By using Shadow Self ("the Application"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use this application.
Description of Service
Shadow Self provides psychological self-exploration tools grounded in Jungian shadow work principles, guided by Sage — an AI companion powered by Claude Opus. The application is intended for educational and personal development purposes only.
License and Usage Restrictions
Personal Use — Permitted
- Use the application for your own psychological self-exploration
- Share the app link with others for personal or educational use
- Use in academic research with proper attribution
Commercial Use — Prohibited
- Charge others for access to or use of this application
- Integrate into paid services or commercial products
- Use the psychological methodology for commercial assessment services
- Create derivative commercial products based on this work

This application is for educational and self-exploration purposes only. It is not:
- Medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
- Professional psychological assessment
- A substitute for professional mental health care

This application explores deep psychological themes including shadow material, existential questions, and intense emotional states. Use at your own pace. Seek professional support if material feels overwhelming — the in-app crisis resources and safety features are always available.
Privacy & Data
Full details are in the Privacy Policy and Privacy Verification pages. In summary:
- All personal data is stored locally on your device — nothing on our servers
- When you message Sage, a minimal context package is sent to Anthropic's API: your message, shadow archetype, last 8 journal entries, last 10 session messages, and Deep Analysis data (if completed) — your name never leaves your device
- No age, IP address, device info, quiz answers, or full history is ever sent
- Anthropic API conversations are not used to train AI models by default
- You can export or delete all your data at any time from the app
Limitation of Liability
The creator of this application is not liable for any psychological, emotional, or other harm that may result from use of this application. Shadow work is inherently an exploration of difficult material — use at your own pace and seek professional support when needed.
Changes to Terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
